Plot summary

A left-wing journalist whose wife died while giving birth to his son during a military coup returns to his family's farm. Estranged from his father for turning his back on the family and wasting his life with political activism instead, he tries to reconnect with him so that his son will have a place to live as his health is deteriorating due to the extensive torture he had to endure.

My Father and My Son" is a very

"My Father and My Son" is a very heartfelt and human story. This movie is ultimately about the bonds of family and has a lot of great lessons for everyone. Sometimes I felt it would dive more into the characters and backstories, but I think what is presented is still really good. By the end of it, I really felt the emotions of the story and think this is a movie that everyone can enjoy despite the unique setting and situation that sparks the story. Overall, this is a very good movie that has a warm heart and truly has something for everyone.

A feel-good family portrait that meets domestic comfort through familiar formulaic vision whilst realistically displaying humble reconciliation in proud form, but the key emotional factor unveils coldness with unceremonious melodrama that oddly cringes upon the climatic decline – though some could add it as another humorous layer. IMDb 250 list. NYT 1000 movies list. Although it is a bit melodramatic, this story still resonated because it was new to me. A side of Turkish culture I had not seen and it rang true. SLC DVD.
