Nice, present day. Laura, in her thirties, is trying to rebuild her life after a tumultuous relationship with Joachim. She leads a seemingly quiet life, raising her young daughter alone. But an accident involving Shirine, Joachim's new partner, will bring her past back to the surface. Both women, victims of the same man's violence, will gradually find support for each other...Bastien Bouillon was praised to the skies, far beyond his station,IMHO; in my book the female stars are much more convincing ,particularly the mother and her little daughter, both admirable :the guessing game, which allows both human beings-and later on, the other woman - to escape a bleak future ,in the days to come ; one is happy to meet again Marianne Basler as a mother overtaken by events who has lost any hope as far as his junkie of a son is concerned .No violence is shown,much to the credit of the movie: Shirine's bruised body is enough to make us feel what the heroine has suffered ; the "joyeux anniversaire" to the daughter on the phone is enough to display the father's selfishness.An implausibility : as a teacher,I know what I'm talking about;never a child is deprived of a school trip because of money;if the parents cannot afford it, a financial aid is provided ..
