Plot summary

Annie, the beloved seven-time Tony Award-winning Broadway sensation, comes to life like never before in a live musical event starring Harry Connick, Jr., Nicole Scherzinger, Tituss Burgess, Megan Hilty and Taraji P. Henson, with newcomer Celina Smith in the title role of Annie. The iconic musical follows smart and spirited little orphan Annie, whose whole life changes when larger-than-life billionaire Daddy Warbucks takes her away from an orphanage run by the mean Miss Hannigan. The latest production of 'Annie' breaks the mold

"The latest production of 'Annie' breaks the mold with its unconventional casting, breathing new life into a classic that many, myself included, feared had been overplayed. Surprisingly, it's these deviations from the norm that make this the most captivating 'Annie' I've witnessed since its premiere. The choice of lead actress is a standout example of this fresh approach. While she may not fit the traditional 'cute' archetype, her endearing performance adds depth to the character, making you love Annie for her essence rather than her appearance. Harry Connick Jr. shines brilliantly, showcasing his multifaceted talents in acting, singing, and jazz. Nicole Scherzinger brings grace and vocal prowess to her role as Grace, while Taraji P. Henson steals the show with her magnetic presence. A special nod must be given to the production number 'We'd Like to Thank You Herbert Hoover.' It was nothing short of a Brechtian delight, adding a unique flair to the show. Maybe live tv musicals aren't my thing but

Maybe live tv musicals aren't my thing but man I liked the wiz that was on NBC a couple years ago but man musicals on tv are so boring. It's like watching Hamilton on tv. I much prefer it live in person instead. The true experience of Musical theatre can't be comprehended on a tv or movie theater. That's why it's so special. It needs to be watched in person but of course because of the pandemic and all, Broadway is closed right now unfortunately. But in the meantime we can watch this. But man I couldn't sit though it. It's too slow and it's on tv so it's so much harder to pay attention to a musical. If it was in person you could fully grasp.
