Plot summary

Anna Hart was always an odd child, a genius, a shoplifter, desperately afraid of flickering lights, with strange prophetic dreams. Simultaneously, several strange things begin to happen. A strange, mysterious neighbor, by the name of MacKayla moves in next door to the Harts. And, most frightening of all, Anna sees her exact double on the television one night. As her investigation of the other Anna, Anna Smithson, progresses, she begins to learn the truth. The truth about a woman named Anna Zimmerman that has been dead for twenty years, and most importantly, the truth about herself

This is a forgotten sci-fi thriller from the 80s, supposedly made for kids despite having subject matter that may be a bit too dark for that demographic. It has a very interesting premise, and is surprisingly well made despite its low budget and unknown cast. It suffers from being very dated, and a lot of missed opportunities when it comes to suspense and knowing when to reveal certain aspects of the story. It gives too much away too soon. This is one film that I (and others) feel would benefit from a remake. That's why I'm collaborating with someone to do just that.

Sort of a female "Boys from Brazil" story

Sort of a female "Boys from Brazil" story. Not quite a happy ending -- but that's ok. The movie is more powerful without the happy ending.
