Plot summary

A zombie apocalypse threatens the sleepy town of Little Haven—at Christmas—forcing Anna and her friends to fight, slash, and sing their way to survival. In a desperate race to reach their loved ones, they soon learn that no one is safe in this new world, and with civilization falling apart around them, the only people they can truly rely on are each other.

This review is written by a huge zombie movie fan. The musical format simply didn't work. The musics are not even very well connected to the plot and very few of the "jokes" are actually funny. While the technical aspects such as photography and make-up are neither impressive nor terrible, the average-to-bad acting, amateur-like plot, and musics that make you wish the finish quickly make this movie a waste of time to most of people. I would say that you should watch it only if you love both musical-comedy and zombie movies, and still this is not going to be a super good movie for you.

Dared to be different but needed to go further

I like that this film conceptually dared to be different by blending the genres of zombie, Christmas and musical, each of which could do with a good shake up. Unfortunately I think Anna and the Apocalypse played it too safe, with a generic take on each genre element. As a result, for a film with such an unconventional synopsis, it was surprisingly uninteresting.
