This impressive Australian psychological drama reminded me very much of Breaking the Waves, but I´m not going to elaborate on that comparison, because it wouldn´t be fair on Angel Baby. Why? Well, simply because Angel Baby predates Breaking the Waves. The story is about the relationship between two psychiatric patients in rehabilitation. They try to make a clean start, and build a normal life together. Things of course turn out not to be that simple. The character-study is brilliant, and the performances by the two actors (John Lynch and Jacqueline MacKenzie) are memorable. Both characters are very likeable, and you start feeling for them very much (I did at least). Very compelling stuff; if you get the chance, do see it.
