a work in progress

Hardworking adam pally is (almost) a one man show. He calls his one hour bit on HBO "an intimate evening with adam pally". But he does have fellow musicians on stage and as part of his production. He tells us a bit about his life, his breakup with his girlfriend, and plays some songs. Which he claims he doesn't think his has the rights to, but i'm guessing hbo paid the royalties for any covers he played. Who knows. And confusion over his marriage status... sometimes he says wife, sometimes he says girlfriend. He isn't even sure just what his show is... it's not a concert, it's not a standup bit. He appears very awkward and unprepared. So if you're expecting a well rehearsed, polished show, this is not for you. But it takes a lot of work and guts to even go on the road and do a show, so props to adam for that! And he has been appearing in tv and film for fifteen years, so people are probably familiar with his name and face. It's an experiment. It's okay. And hats off to him. I'm just glad i didn't pay to see his show live.

Not really, but what does it matter? A guy did a thing for himself and it made me happy. Not getting any of the rights to the songs is absolutely hysterical. Not standup, not a concert, just a thing that I loved watching. I came into this knowing that he is legitimately a really funny human being because of Comedy Bang Bang, so maybe I'm biased. So happy to see him doing whatever his thing is and I can't wait for whatever is next.

Don't invest in this unless you have a lot of patience

I recorded this on a whim probably because he had a telecaster and I'm a sucker for amateurs playing music in front of real people.I finally decided to watch this today and after five to ten minutes was regretting it. I wish I could say it gets better or more compelling, but it doesn't. I have no history with him at all and maybe he is funny or talented but I can't say so based on this. It's a lot of cringe and I'm just glad I wasn't in the actual audience.Chances of watching this again are zero. Why HBO bought this is confusing.
