Founded in 1966 in California by a former organist and lion tamer named Anton Szandor LaVey, the Church of Satan has often been surrounded by mysteries, scandals and moral panics. An immersive journey into one the most fascinating phenomena of American religious pluralism.
Well put together doc, but the subject is... lacking. These guys are seriously boring and terminally trapped in an elementary phase in life (high school goth phase!). The doc spends way too much time on "Diabolus Rex"; who isn't even a current member of the church! His "art" is hilariously overblown and pretentious (and, of course, boring). The other guy from the Toilet Boys is equally silly as he's so serious about all this schtick. As I said, well made, but just sooooo tiring. (Oh! Actually, they do a good segment on Le Vey himself; which should have been fleshed out into a feature length doc itself. Sigh)
