Ade reveals herself as a real auteur with

Ade reveals herself as a real auteur with this one. The emotions are so true to life and sometimes unbearably painful, but unlike "Der Wald vor lauter Bäumen" this film also contains some moments of levity. There are beautiful moments of humor done in a way that doesn't seem to be for the viewer, but rather like inside jokes unique to this couple, and yet the viewer is allowed to join in their contagious laughter. Ade still reminds me a lot of Haneke as a director — in her subject matter and willingness to stare unblinking into chaotic and dangerous emotions — but I find her films imbued with even more verisimilitude and maturity.

Any thing can be made into a movie basically, but this was kind-of-blah. Tolerable, but then the ending...WTF???

It is a genuine and powerful analysis of

It is a genuine and powerful analysis of the disturbingly familiar relationship between a man and a woman. Despite being heavily based on dialogue between two actors and a few shooting scenes, the director manages to maintain the thrill and curiosity as much as possible for such a film.
