充满了老电影的舒缓。资产阶级寡妇与园丁的“禁忌之恋”，可以看到上世纪中页的保守思潮和社群影响。人是有多难跳出自己的环境啊。可以从生态批评的角度看待这部电影，Ryne热爱树木，喜欢自然生活，像是自然的化身，他的出现解放了Carry资产阶级的无聊，赋予了她生命的新活力，当他们的爱情被环境和子女所阻碍，Carry就陷入郁闷，甚至开始头疼，就像是人离开了自然而不能生存。结局Ryne因为Carry的出现而负伤，Carry也终于意识到不该让彼此之间横亘那些不重要的人和事，那几句点题的台词，真是充满了时代感。“我终于学会了Ryne的不要让不重要的事影响你的态度。”“我也说过那不会是一夜之间学会的。”

All That Heaven Allows is a fine movie that is a good and decent time. It is an interesting social commentary on the state of relationships between an older woman and a younger man back in the 50's. Many, many people in the modern world would not care about their relationship in such a vile way anymore, so it made it interesting to see the perspective of a different world.

Deemed a classic for challenging a taboo of

Deemed a classic for challenging a taboo of society at the time. Woman was even guy years older than Hudson in real life and that was deemed sufficient to be a shocking plot. To modern eyes this is overwrought melodrama. There are still taboos around older women in relationships, see Macron for example but it’s hardly worthy of an entire storyline these days. So it gets an average rating from me because it has aged ahah terribly but also because Rock Hudson showed about as much charisma as a rock throughout. Watched on DVD.
