Late Autumn or A Calm Autumn Day is a 1960 Japanese drama film directed and co-written by Yasujirō Ozu. It is based on Late Autumn by Ton Satomi. It was produced by Shizuo Yamanouchi. It stars Setsuko Hara, Yoko Tsukasa, Mariko Okada and Keiji Sada. It was produced by Shochiku Company, Limited. It was distributed by Shochiku Kinema Kenkyu-jo and New Yorker Films. Vision wrote: "feminism is on the rise but tradition stays intact. Late Autumn follows the attempts of three older men trying to convince the widow of a late friend to have her marry off her daughter. In the end, we see the paradox of losing and loving. The film featured an amazing performance by Yoko Tsukasa and Setsuko Hara. Setsuko Hara’s last dance! Three and a half fries for the cinematography, the direction and the performances."

I consider myself an Ozu fan, but I

I consider myself an Ozu fan, but I just couldn't get into this one. It's just a bunch of busybodies meddling into other people's lives, and the strong dramatic moments that Ozu's films normally end with are missing here.
