This film was a great little find. I

This film was a great little find. I stumbled across it at a central London cinema. Some really amazing performances particularly from Chris Wellington and Warwick Evans. This film captures the mood of soho before the 60s and I urge any sohoite to catch this while they can! D

Adrift in Soho is a must see film

Adrift in Soho is a must see film. The portrayal of Soho at a time of massive change has been fantastically shown, the characters and locations lovingly shot. The director manages to join the characters, and the sense of change into an alluring and beautiful film. There are many characters here from the old Soho and you really feel transported to the end of the 1950ï¿ 1/2(TM)s- on the cusp of the swinging 60ï¿ 1/2(TM)s. Behrens has managed to weave a number of story elements together, post war Britain, anxiety about an imminent nuclear war, social change and the Free movement to transport us seemlessly to this time. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and urge you to go and see it

This film casts a spell, which some will

This film casts a spell, which some will resist and others -- like me --- will appreciate. ADRIFT IN SOHO reminds me of some of my favorite experiences: unplanned, completely dependent on my attitude, memorable and frequently delicious. Without firsthand knowledge of the source novel or SoHo, I must restrain my comments to the film itself. As one snotty critic points out, it is low-budget, but the film functions so beautifully within those constraints, I didn't find the lack of big name actors, elaborate sets and costumes, or pricey special effects to be a drawback. Instead I reveled in is honest art, thoughtful direction and laudable performances.
