The most powerful movie I've seen in years

The most powerful movie I've seen in years. You have to hang in there past the opening when you don't know what to expect. Then the story and acting will grab you and not let you go. Jeff Goldblum is fantastic. The drama is haunting as are the wrenching views of the Holocaust. It deserves a far higher rating than it got here. Phooey on shallow critics.

If you're looking for a very strange and

If you're looking for a very strange and perverse holocaust movie regarding carnies and a mental asylum then this is the movie for you. Definitely a strange film but not as strange as one may think as it still remains mostly coherent on the first viewing which allows it to garner enough interest to make one want to see how it ends.

Brilliant. Paul Schrader did good here. Very well written and adapted from Yoram Kaniuk's book. Amazing cinematography and visually stunning. Might just be Jeff Goldblum's best work ever, Willem Dafoe also shines in character, well, whole cast is very convincing. You need the stomach for this, but it's filled with all the elements required to make a most memorable movie. Very riveting
