Plot summary

After falling off the roof at a New Year's Eve house party, Owen decides that it's time to make some wholesale changes in his life. Over the next year, he quits drinking, re-enters his estranged son's life, reignites old friendships, and falls in love with Vera, a bank teller and fellow divorcee...all in an attempt to replace members of his family who he'd lost prematurely.

Great movie about a guy that turns his

Great movie about a guy that turns his life around by going from the total irresponsible screw-up to the mature man wanting to prove his love to his son and help all his screw-up friends. Great movie!!

The story runs on coincidences and perfect timing which allows characters to catch each other in dubious acts throughout the film.

This was pretty bland and generic, a Hallmark

This was pretty bland and generic, a Hallmark style sentimental film about someone trying to better themselves, to turn over a new leaf, yadda yadda. It seemed fairly cliched and didn't really keep my attention much but then I was surprised by a change in plot direction, which occured somewhat suddenly towards the last half hour or so of the film. I'm confused as to why it says online that this film features an 'all star cast', as I can't say I recognised the main actors but then I'm not American, so maybe I watch the wrong shows and thus don't recognise them(?). I don't know. It is a little thoughtful, mildly poignant towards the end too and so I suppose for that its not totally worth dismissing but its certainly not the sort of film I'd outright recommend as such, no.
