Plot summary

Almost 20 years after the start of the original "Brady Bunch" the kids are grown up and have kids of their own. Everyone is having a wonderful time back at the family house for Christmas, until Mike learns of a structural problem in one of the buildings he designed. As he is inspecting the problem, the building collapses, trapping him inside. As the whole family waits by the pile of rubble, they fear the worst. Will Dad be all right?

First of all, they did Susan Olsen wrong

First of all, they did Susan Olsen wrong by not going the extra mile to involve her in the production. And second of all, this reunion movie is just cheesy and flimsy. I did not care for it. I felt they were stretching the gimmick of a cast reunion and hyping up a holiday-themed story all rolled into one.

I’m a huge Brady Bunch fan since I

I’m a huge Brady Bunch fan since I was 5 years old in reruns because it was cancelled on my first birthday. And I’m 51 now and a Brady fan now for 46 years. I love all the Brady specials and the Reunion shows, but never like the remakes of the movies in the theaters. I thought they stunk. But as for a Very Brady Christmas was a fantastic movie and in my opinion the actress Jennifer Runyon who played Cindy in the movie was great as an 80’s college Cindy in the role since Susan Olson was on her Honeymoon. I absolute love this movie and when I first came out in 1988 I was 15 years old and I could not get enough of watching this movie and back in the day I even recorded it on my VCR when it was first on and since than it’s a tradition for me!

After hours of intense thought and deliberation, I have decided to let nostalgia outweigh common sense and give this a slightly passing grade. I know most of the performances are on the level of what you would find in an Eggo Waffles commercial, including some of the most annoying child acting in history. I know the plot and writing are below the standards of your average sitcom, including a dramatic twist at the end that feels totally out of place when compared with the rest of the shenanigans. But how can I give a negative review to a Brady Bunch movie on Christmas Eve? Even my three-sizes-too-small heart couldn't fathom the thought. I do wish the filmmakers had used a bit more imagination - perhaps do something satirical along the lines of the theatrical movies that came along a few years later. But in the end, I suppose it accomplishes what it sets out to do, and those who grew up with the sitcom will appreciate seeing most of the original cast reunite. And I'd be lying if I said I will never watch this again. Plus, it doesn't feature Kirk Cameron, so all is well.
