Plot summary

Grace Caldwell, a young Pennsylvania newspaper heiress living with her widowed mother, has trouble restraining herself when it comes to the amorous attentions of young men. As word starts to spread about her behavior, Grace becomes a major source of heartache for her mother and a big source of concern to her brother.

A melodrama from the period when a single

A melodrama from the period when a single person produced a movie and a single person was credited for the special effects. Unclear why the movie is rated over 16. There is serial adultery by the heroine, so maybe the censors wanted to make sure that impressionable young minds were not influenced. The choices of the heroine who is unable to commit to a monogamous relationship is not totally impossible. She is raised without a father, so from a Freudian standpoint she is constantly seeking approval from father figure substitutes. Once she conquers someone they lose their value and she is on to the next one. Music by Nelson Riddle. Decent black and white cinematography with the exaggerated shadows. In a couple scenes there are shadows even from multiple directions!

Good movie. It addresses the issue of pseudo-men

Good movie. It addresses the issue of pseudo-men, self-sufficient because of their own social hierarchy, who commit crimes of sexual abuse and are never held accountable. On the other hand, it shows the psychopathy of a woman who, even though she knows that she confesses to being on the wrong side of virtue, will not recriminate herself enough to find the strength to overcome her addiction. It is a faithful picture of the biblical passage of Mary Magdalene. "Where are your accusers?" "It's up to the movie buff to believe in a redemption, like The Wind Took."
