Plot summary

A pastry boy and the son of a hair-piece mogul become involved in an arson scandal. Sergio is offered a bribe in exchange for taking the blame for the fire that destroys his workplace. Garet, the real arsonist, is apalled that someone else would try to take credit for his act of love. Before long, Sergio and Garet become entangled in a zany love-quadrangle involving Hattie and Stephanie. Written by Brian Whiting

Not many people know about A Pyromaniac’s Love

Not many people know about A Pyromaniac’s Love Story, and I can understand why. It’s a simple, quirky romantic comedy that came out the same year as such movie monoliths as Toy Story, Apollo 13, GoldenEye, and Braveheart. At times, it feels more like a stage play than a film, with extended monologuing and farcical situations. Nevertheless, I find it charming. John Leguizamo carries the everyman role on his young shoulders alongside Sadie Frost, with William Baldwin swooping in to add some manic, comedy energy to the plot. And so, I recommend watching A Pyromaniac’s Love Story. Just remember to breathe.

Sorry, but I gotta defend this. It was kinda cute for its time. Seems like the entire cast had some quirk or other and it was fun putting all the pieces together. It was not the wasted effort the rating seems to indicate.
