Plot summary

Stanley Durall, the notorious director of a series of intense erotic dramas, is returning to his debut movie, God’s Lonely Woman, to provide an audio commentary for the film’s first Blu-ray release since it was banned in the 1970s. It’s clear from his commentary that Stanley committed a series of transgressions against his lead actresses during production, transgressions which had serious consequences for everyone involved – everyone except him. But will he finally be punished for his past behaviour?

The concept for “A Little More Flesh” is

The concept for “A Little More Flesh” is really good and somewhat unique. For that I give a lot of props to its creator Sam Ashurst. Especially considering he made this film on a micro-budget. However, for most of the film, the execution of it makes it very tough to get through it. I actually fell asleep four different times and had to start the film over each time until I could slog through to the end, which actually pays off. I think “A Little More Flesh” could make a very good short story. My issue with the execution of “A Little More Flesh” is that it’s supposed to be an older director giving his audio commentary about the making of an intense erotic drama he’s made in the 1970s. So intense that the film is said to have been banned at the time it was released as is now only coming out as a blu-ray. But, the film we actually see on screen is not at all interesting on its own and it’s barely, if at all, an erotic drama. Also, this “seventies” film looks nothing at all like a film from that era. Of course, if one shoots a film on a modern digital camera, due to having a micro budget, it would be difficult to give that older look of something that was made on film. So I can forgive that. But it would've been nice (maybe) to try to give it a more filmic look. Would applying filters in the post-production work? I think an older actor should’ve been used to voice the director. Only because Sam Ashurst’s voice is too young sounding. We need a more gravely voice of a man in his seventies. Preferably someone who spent decades smoking. A voice like that would really sell the type of person that the fictional director Stanley Dursley reveals himself to be. Despite all my negative comments, I do still think the film is worth watching. And if you purchased the blu-ray from Art Label, you really should then do it again, but this time listen to the actual commentary track by Alexandra Heller-Nicholas. She does an excellent job explaining why “A Little More Flesh” is worthwhile and goes into detail about the genre and the making of this film. [Yes, there’s irony in a film that has a fictional commentary track having two actual commentary tracks.] There’s many other bonus content material in this blu-ray, including the full feature-length sequel, “A Little more Flesh II.”
