Plot summary

Goofy’s teenage son Max is desperate to impress his crush and fit in at school. After well-meaning but ignorant Goofy suddenly whisks him away on a cross-country road trip—messing up Max’s first date plans in the process—Goofy’s old-school parenting and Max’s desire for independence lead to a vacation of hilarious mishaps, as they both learn to see eye to eye and listen to each other.

Fantastically animated for a cartoon’s own frivolous quality that dazzles with enough to expressively blossom the comedic heart by achieving the intended narrative approaches that are thematically thoughtful and meaningful through layered depth, such treatment never thought of for a cartoon character. The eponymous nature boosts the enjoyable comedy under retained signature, which was criticized for lack thereof without noting it is rather balanced with the vulnerably surfaced emotional core that honestly could have been written better, regardless of the moderately designated communication. What truly aligned the thematic heart is the performances from Jason Marsden excelling Max’s role similarly linked to coming-of-age classics’ starring teens, which positions Bill Farmer in not only also excelling Goofy’s emotional circumstances but brings more comfort and sympathy than the parental roles in those categorized classics, especially with seldom gravitas.

A very fun movie to watch with the family with great characters.

Disney released three animated features in theaters in

Disney released three animated features in theaters in 1995: Toy Story, Pocahontas, and A Goofy Movie. And A Goofy Movie is definitely the underdog of those three. But there is something enduring about this story. When I was younger, I identified more with Max. Now, as a parent, I identify more with Goofy. But either way, this is a fun family film with humor and heart. It also has some amazing songs. I would definitely attend a Powerline concert if he existed in real life. So yes, this cartoon is a little, if you’ll pardon the pun, goofy at times, but I’m always up for a trip with A Goofy Movie.
