Plot summary

Miser Ebenezer Scrooge is awakened on Christmas Eve by spirits who reveal to him his own miserable existence, what opportunities he wasted in his youth, his current cruelties, and the dire fate that awaits him if he does not change his ways. Scrooge is faced with his own story of growing bitterness and meanness, and must decide what his own future will hold: death or redemption.

Such a HORRIBLE adaptation. I saw the poster

Such a HORRIBLE adaptation. I saw the poster image and expected a darker, grittier version. And it only partially delivered on that, but the worst part is the ending. SPOILER ALERT So, the ending makes it so Bob Cratchit's wife (Mary in this rendition) is the one that sent the ghosts to Ebeneezer Scrooge as penance for his sleezy behavior. Which completely ignores Dickens' original concept of Marley arranging the ghosts to visit him to get him to realize the error of his ways and repent. "Well now we know why he was the way he was," some critics say. I say, "It was already clear: Greed." Sorry, but thinking you can do Dickens better than Dickens by changing the KEY elements to the story is negligence at best and pure hubris at worst. I do not recommend to anybody who actually likes A Christmas Carol.

Dark and tragic ... as do the three

Dark and tragic ... as do the three Christmas spirits, Scrooge himself, anxious and obsessive and completely cynical, exposes the hypocrisy in our species through his own musings. The Ghosts are brilliant, frightening representations. If you don't like this retelling, perhaps a bright mirror will help.

I understand people want light and joy and

I understand people want light and joy and marshmallow fluff at Christmas. But if you’re looking for the truth of people , the vulnerability of man , the real story Dickens was teaching, then this is it ! I don’t believe you understand true Christianity if you don’t see the message in this film ! The actors are outstanding and it is and will always be a must see every Christmas!!!!!!!!!
