Disappointing and Lacking Depth For a documentary set deep in the wild, it surprisingly lacks depth. If you've been on Mount Everest, why be so unprepared? The filmmaker attempts to condense six years into one film but sacrifices substance in the process. Key details—like how she sources food—are glossed over. She bikes at times, then uses a canoe, but where did the bike go? Where did the canoe go? And then they reappear with no explanation. Clichés like "Don't walk on the earth, walk with the earth" feel hollow rather than profound. Worse, she abandons four plastic tents in the wilderness simply because she wasn’t prepared for the Canadian weather—despite being Canadian! The film rushes through its journey without real introspection, making it feel more like a scattered montage than a meaningful exploration.

Confusing title that suggests a continuous, unbroken journey. Beautiful visuals, but a poor narration and sometimes very self-indulgent, not thinking about the audience. The connection with the land and ancestors felt a bit forced and hollow. It needed more time "talking to camera" addressing the audience to communicate what was being felt and experienced.

In terms of technical film making it’s not

In terms of technical film making it’s not going to win any awards but visually Canada is so spectacular it makes up for it as Diane (Dee) takes us along with her to such sacred and pristine places The interspersing of bits and pieces from her personal life are kind of messy but endearing. I think the formation of her gay relationship could have been explored a bit more and the lack of explanation of her marriage and children borders on political and almost takes away from her purported raison d’être for the project which was indigenous reconciliation. It vacillates between being personal journalling and a love offering to Mother Nature but overall a worthwhile vicarious adventure to an incredible country.
