Plot summary

Single father and former cop Tom Cutler has an unusual occupation: he cleans up death scenes. But when he's called in to sterilize a wealthy suburban residence after a brutal shooting, Cutler is shocked to learn he may have unknowingly erased crucial evidence, entangling himself in a dirty criminal cover-up.

Cleaner starring Keke Palmer and Samuel L. Jackson is a decent film with strong moments of story building, action, and criminal conspiracy woven through a lot of back-and-forth tension. The premise is engaging and there are stretches where the film really holds attention through its mix of investigation and escalating conflict. However, at times the screenplay feels overly heavy and a bit stuck in place, as if it is repeating itself instead of pushing the story forward in meaningful ways. That creates moments where the momentum dips and the narrative feels like it is circling rather than evolving. Despite that, the performances help elevate the material, especially with the lead cast carrying the emotional weight well. The film is still very watchable and entertaining in the moment, but it lacks the lasting impact that would make it more memorable. It ends up being one of those films you enjoy while watching, but gradually forget over time once it is over.
